Unlike the larger wedding invitation operations, we are a small company that takes pride in every piece of work that leaves our studio. When you choose Moontree Letterpress you are supporting a small, local business and ensuring the preservation of a craft: the historic form of letterpress.

As someone who enjoys being crafty, I love the idea of choosing to make something over buying it. However, there are times when the scale of a project might be too much to take on — like making your own wedding invitations. In this case, you still have the option of hiring an independent maker to help you out instead of going to one of the big “industry” type places.

The most important consideration for shoppers is usually the budget. For this reason, I thought it would be helpful to break down the categories by process. Even though prices tend to vary within each category, it’s safe to assume that a letterpress invitation is going to be more expensive than a laser printed invitation. Somewhere in-between falls screenprinting (ie. silkscreen). On the other end of the spectrum, you can have your invitations designed and delivered via email as an electronic file, which you can then print yourself or take to a local offset shop, or you can go paperless for a more eco-friendly option.

Here is some lovely work that caught my eye. See more in the Etsy Weddings Paper Goods category.

Such wonderful ideas. I want to design my own and then have them printed. The problem is, how do I want them designed?

    Jim Sanders from factory3d says:

My nephew recently got married and I was trying to think of a unique gift to give him and his bride. Since they're both in musicians and do a lot of musical theater, I thought making a movie poster of their engagement picture would be something very special. It was. They loved it. Then I thought maybe others would like the same thing so I designed several that are now up on my Etsy shop. Some of the designs have a special honeymoon theme. Check them out for a unique sort of gift that will definitely be a one of a kind gift. Thanks Jim
