Etsy Made Local x The Frugality

Most of my favourite belongings in my home and office are from Etsy, from the prints on my walls to my vintage sideboard for chicly storing all my stationery to handpoured candles that make me feel cosy whilst watching my favourite Christmas movie, I really believe there is something there for everyone. It has opened up the previously small community of handmade local artisans and talented craftspeople to the world and that is no easy feat. And what I find most impressive is that it has still managed to convey all the personalities of these creative sellers through the medium of the often soulless internet.

And now they’re going full circle and showcases some of these sellers into the real world. A few years ago I attended the first ever #EtsyMadeLocalUK event in central London and I loved browsing the stalls, meeting the makers and buying local gifts for Christmas presents. A couple of years on, I’m thrilled to be working with them again to promote another set of 53 markets set up across the country between 30th November – 2nd December 2018 (on My parents have a small local business and I am so aware of how important it is to  shop local, and I am trying to  do this for the bulk of my Christmas shopping this year. I will be at the Tooting event on the 1st December shopping and catching up with my family at the same time.

You can find your local market via the site and you will be able to see the local brands which will be there on the day (sometimes it’s nice to plan ahead!). And don’t worry if you can’t make it down IRL, you can also click on the sellers there and have a browse anyway! I love adding to my favourites on the site and revisiting regularly for updates from my most-loved stores. And you might just discover a new brand which is local to your neighbourhood, too!

So I’m looking forward to being part of this epic weekend, for celebrating the small and local and seeing your images and buys! Make sure you hashtag #EtsyMadeLocalUK and tag @etsyuk to join in on the fun! See you there!
