Jan 23, 2017

by Sarah Sandiford handmade and vintage goods

Calling all knitters, makers and ok I’ll give it a go-ers! We’ve teamed up with the fun folk at innocent to get involved in their Big Knit campaign and we’re asking you to come join the fun…

When we’re not slurping on their delicious smoothies or marvelling at their witty ways, we can’t help admire that innocent are the masterminds behind the genius Big Knit project. Calling on the general public to knit over 6 million little knitted hats, together they have raised over £1.9million for Age UK, all by donating 25p from each bottle sold. And all those pennies go a long way, helping keep older people warm, snug and well over winter.

Hat’s amazing we hear you say! We know – so what say you, will you join us in lending us a hand and take part in the Big Knit too?

Get in on the action

It’s super easy, lots of fun and all for a great cause – what could be better? Whether you’re a knitting pro or haven’t really got a clue but you’ll give it a go, simply grab some wool, settle yourself down in a cosy corner and knit a hat or two. Or why not make it an occasion and organise a knitting party? Rally up all your family, friends, work pals and neighbours and get yo’ knit on for a good cause.

And for those of you who might get your knitting needles in a twist to begin with (we’re not judging), here’s a handy little how to video to get you started.

Pick a pattern

To help you get started, we’ve called upon some of our trusty knitting pros to design some snazzy patterns for you to choose from. Five of our talented Etsy sellers have rustled up a pattern to inspire your knitting ways – whether you want to knit just one or all of them, click on the link to reveal the pattern.
