Once you get hold of that elusive, perfect autumn frock, months of hassle-free topnotch outfits are secured; a garment that’s with you for the whole season, whether you dress it up, keep things casj, or pile on the layers as the temperature drops. Here are six versatile autumnal dresses, either handmade or vintage from a talented bunch of UK Etsy sellers, that tick all the boxes.
A dress that proves autumn frocks don’t have to be floaty, feminine affairs- and nothing quite says ‘hello, autumn’ like a good bit of corduroy.
Sweatshirt dress, £105, RIYKA
Folky, bohemian dresses with intricate patterns and a mix of textures are a wise choice for autumn. Pair this with a long shearling coat for a big nod to the season’s most ubiquitous trend.
70s maxi dress, £34, Luna Rose Vintage
You can’t go far wrong with geometric patterns, particularly in warm tones, during the autumn months; finish off the look with brown leather boots and a suede coat.
Retro print dress. £30, We Find The Gifts
A turtleneck and a retro, fallen leaves-coloured print combine to create a frock that’s quite sublime.
70s floral dress, £45, Atypical Girl Vintage
Just add thick tights and a big, fluffy coat.
Paisley shift dress, £40, Lily and the Lamplight
Both professional and sassy, this 100% lambswool dress complete with unexpected orange cuff detail will keep you looking your best whether in a meeting or sipping post-work drinks.
Ribbed neck jumper dress, £72, Miriam Griffiths

I am totally digging all these gorgeous bohemian frocks! I want to dress like a pile of warm-coloured leaves and float around the city as if I were caught in the wind.

I'm not a 'dress person', but I can see myself wearing the lambswool one over leggings - very stylish!

Especially love the Lily and the Lamplight Butterfly dress, at the time, this design was often in a light velvet, white lace or crochet and very easy to wear, comfortable and feminine. Good to see these nostalgic styles returning once again.
