With Isle of Wight festival happening this weekend, it may well be festival season here in the UK, but one look at our chock-a-block diaries would also indicate that wedding season is also under way. But festivals and weddings have something in common: getting merry and having a good time to a soundtrack of your most favourite music!
Max, Lucy and Noah (pictured above) founded Wedding Smashers in 2010 through a meeting of musical minds and a mutual love of Fleetwood Mac, 80’s Pop and UK Garage. They’ve since rocked weddings from Newquay to New York City – as well as the Etsy Wedding Fair – and have grown to include a roster of seven hand-picked musical wizards.
On this #WeddingWednesday, we caught up with original Wedding Smasher Max to discover his top ten wedding songs, guaranteed to get the party started…
1. Chuck Berry – Johnny Be Goode
This is Rock n Roll at it’s finest, Marty McFly.
2. The Beatles – Twist & Shout
The most fun Beatles track in our opinion.
3. Shirley Ellis – Clapping Song
Because everyone likes a good clap along.
4. Aretha Franklin – Respect
Always a really popular tune to play.
5. Michael Jackson – P.Y.T
An under-played MJ track that is total pop perfection.
6. Eurythmics – Sweet Dreams
We play this at almost every gig.
7. Paul Simon – Call Me Al
A personal favourite…
8. R Kelly – Ignition (Remix)
The ultimate slow jam.
9. Beyoncé – Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)
It just can’t be denied!
10. Fleetwood Mac – Everywhere
The all-inclusive group sing and hug along anthem.
