Etsy, Crafty Fox Market and Mr Wingate have joined forces to bring you Manmade, an exciting new event to celebrate ‘men who make’.

‘As a man who makes things, I have always been aware of quite how few of us are out there making and selling in comparison to our female counterparts.’ (Etsy seller, Sam Wingate of Mr Wingate).

Just in time for Father’s Day on 12-13th June 2015, Manmade will include a marketplace, art exhibition, inspirational talks, live art, making workshops, bar, food, DJ, barber and general merriment to celebrate creative men! Mingle with the likes of printmaker Mr Wingate, illustrator and product designer Jimbob Art, jeweller Daniel Darby and sculptor Zack Mclaughlin.

Meet the makers and browse the full exhibitor list here.

You’ll find handmade goods from 50 male makers, including: homeware, furniture, ceramics, woodwork, interior textiles, sculpture, art and printmaking, jewellery, accessories, toiletries, beard products and edible treats (we can’t wait to try the vegan chocolate and the homemade bourbon & chipotle BBQ sauce!).

Manmade was the bright idea of Etsy seller, Sam Wingate of Mr Wingate‘If you look around a craft fair like the Crafty Fox, the number of women selling far exceeds the number of men’ says Sam. This highlighted a gap for him, ‘I want to get more men involved with making and selling and dispel the myth that craft and making is just for the girls.’

Sam is not alone in his thinking. In line with Crafty Fox’s ‘real life’ markets, the women selling on Etsy far outnumber the men, so we’ve decided it’s time to show off our boys! For Manmade, the Truman Brewery in East London will be packed to the rafters with a curated selection of male makers and artists, showcasing their work and selling their wares – a veritable feast of art, ceramics, textiles, jewellery and fashion.

Sinead Koehler, Founder and Director of Crafty Fox Market, says – ‘We’re constantly on the look out for innovative ways to promote handmade and jumped at Sam’s Manmade idea – a unique showcase of male traders. This fresh approach is designed to encourage the public to take note of talented makers. Teaming up with Etsy is a great way to make sure that we attract the best male makers from across the land to come and exhibit with us in June.’

The Manmade makers were selected by open call, with a panel of industry experts including Etsy, Crafty Fox Market, Mr Wingate, David Nicholls (Telegraph Magazine’s design editor and menswear columnist).
