Well, that Kirstie Allsopp is a clever so-and-so, isn’t she? Last weekend, she successfully launched the first ever Handmade Fair, as part of her massive mission to get Britain crafting.
Held in the sumptuous grounds of Hampton Court Palace, Britain’s best artisans and hand-picked sellers were all in attendance to host skill workshops, BIG scale crafting and sessions in the Super Theatre (oo-er).
Once you wound your way in past horse-drawn carriages, swans and signets, plus the odd pair of parakeets and entered the event, the Etsy tent was to be found flanking the lake, alongside the ‘mazing Mollie Makes tent.
We invited eight inspirational Etsy sellers to come along to showcase their wares and speak to people about their Etsy experience:
We also hosted Etsy Business School classes every day, with topics ranging from explaining Etsy through to best social media practise, perfecting photography (by Lyndsey James of photocraft.org) and selling on Etsy (by Karli from designosaurYEAH and Eleanor from DigForVictory) and are pleased to say the tent was a-bursting at the seams for every session, yay!
Not only that, but our Matt (International Community Programmes Manager), even had a chin-wag on stage in the Big Tent with Kirstie on Sunday morning, discussing all things crafty. Also: Props to KM for managing make pompoms look super stylish (check out those shoes!) as part of her quest for #WorldPomination.
We managed to steer clear of the very-tempting Prosecco truck for the entire weekend, instead feasting on fab foods from excellent eateries Peckish Peacock and Los Churros Amigos, while the delicious aromas from Lush Ltd’s workshop wagon wafted past.
Sadly, we didn’t manage to hitch a ride on Kirstie’s pimped-up golf buggy, nor did we bump into the super cool Wool and the Gang girls, but hey; we had a BADGE-MAKING MACHINE inside our tent, so…
With the sun handily shining
all for most of the weekend, it’s safe to say we had a fabulous time at the fair and we hope Kirstie plans on running a second one next year!
