With just over a month to go before Kirstie Allsopp flings open the gates of Hampton Court Palace and welcomes you to The Handmade Fair 2014, we caught up with her to chat inspiration, being a neat freak and #WorldPomination…
Where did your love of crafts and vintage come from?
I’ve had a lifelong love of crafts and old things. My mother was a brilliant seamstress and my dad a great collector of antiques, so growing up I was surrounded with these things.
What would your advice be to a crafting novice who doesn’t know where to start?
Get online to Pinterest and have a look at what everyone’s making – it’s a brilliant place to get inspiration. Then hit your local Hobbycraft and shop till you drop (or shop local sellers on Etsy)!
What are you best at (crafting or otherwise!)?
Being neat and therefore crafts that require me to be neat.
Where do you go to get inspired?
There are numerous places I find inspiration; Golborne Road market, my local high street in Devon, museums, fairs, and most definitely online. I also get sent so many amazing things by people via Twitter, which I love.
What are you going to do with all the pompoms post #WorldPomination?!
That is a very good question…
Guess we’ll have to wait and see!
