As Art Editor of You & Your Wedding Magazine, the definitive guide to what’s new and stylish in weddings, Kate Hornby loves discovering exciting products for reception shoots and style pages, getting crafty making projects for the DIY section and inspiring brides-to-be to think ‘outside the box’ for a unique and personalised wedding.
Weddings are so unique to every couple and there are so many fabulous ways to style them, I’ve been ruthless and chosen three of my favourite themes right now to help inspire you. It can all start from seeing one amazing piece you fall in love with and you then build the rest of your décor around it. One thing’s for sure, you’ll have so much fun in the process.
It’s A Nice Day For A White Wedding
[ 1. Bow Tie by thepaisleymoon; 2. Moustache Straws by PaperFete; 3. Washi Tape by OHMYBUY; 4. Cake Topper by MissSarahCake; 5. Confetti Bags by SepiaSmile; 6. Candle Holders by ModernLux]
I love a cool graphic monochrome style. If you fancy a traditional white day but want a modern spin then this is perfect for you. I’ve picked some of my favourite pieces to help you along the way. Mix prints and bold shapes; from a dapper polka dot bow tie for your groom, to giving your cake the wow-factor with this typographic cake topper. Get your creative juices flowing too, and turn your hand to some DIY with patterned washi tape. Wrap it around black and white baker’s twine to make mini bunting or add a strip to the bottom of your place cards for extra style.
Make It Personal
[1. Personalised Popcorn Boxes by PostmansKnoc; 2. Couples Stamp by TheLittlePosyPrintCo; 3. Scrabble Necklace by VintageWLove; 4. Cake Topper by lollipopworkshop; 5. Wedding Invitation by goodshowstudio; 6. Collar Stiffeners by IndiviJewles]
Every bride wants her day to be special and unique, it goes without saying, but these fabulous pieces will help put an extra special stamp on it (literally!). Have your guest’s names individually printed on your favours to make them feel special too, say a personal thanks to your maids with a necklace and send your hubby-to-be a message on your big day with some personalised collar clips. For the crème de la crème, a bespoke cake topper is something you’ll treasure long after your big day. Playing with bright colours really suits this theme for a fun-filled day your guests will talk about for years to come.
[1. Flower Crown by ManniaTitta; 2. Bottle Wedding Favors by HuffyHen; 3. Spring Bunting by peonyandthistle; 4. Wedding Invitation by JollyEdition; 5. Paper Flowers by APaperRoseStudio; 6. Beeswax Candles by LightBee]
It’s a popular theme and one that‘s always evolving in style. Rustic is perfect for an outdoor summer wedding. Think decorated barn, sitting on hay bales and fairy lights twinkling when the sun goes down. This selection of goodies will help that become reality. A cute twist on bunting with botanical hearts and, as nature intended, with these beeswax candles. They take me right back to primary school days when I made ones just like this at a bee farm on a school trip.
