We are further enhancing our Board with the election of Peggy Smyth as our newest independent director.

As Etsy continues to grow and evolve as a business, we are grateful to have an intensely talented Board of Directors that offers us the strategic insights, oversight and experience necessary to help us stay focused on our mission to reimagine commerce. Today, I’m really excited to announce that we are further enhancing our Board with the election of Peggy Smyth as our newest independent director. Peggy has had a long and successful career as a finance leader of large, global companies. She currently serves as U.S. Chief Financial Officer for National Grid, one of the world’s largest publicly-listed utility companies, where her responsibilities include oversight of finance, accounting, and shared services activities in the U.S., including financial reporting, budgeting, controllership, compliance, transaction processing and general financial management. Before that, Peggy was the Vice President of Finance at Con Edison. Prior to this role, she was Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Finance at Hamilton Sundstrand, a United Technologies (UTC) company and, previously, Vice President and Corporate Controller for UTC. Prior to joining UTC, Peggy served as Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of 3M. She also served in senior leadership roles at Deloitte & Touche and Arthur Andersen. Peggy has strong public-company board experience, having served on the Boards of Vonage (NYSE:VG) and Martha Stewart Omnimedia. In addition to her impressive professional experience and accomplishments, Peggy has the personal qualities one would want in a board member: intense curiosity, proven judgment, deep integrity, and a collaborative approach. “It is a privilege to join the Board of a company that has not only an ambitious and inspiring mission, but is also dedicated to delivering value to all of its stakeholders,” said Peggy. “Etsy connects millions of people around the world, and I believe its vibrant community uniquely positions it to have a profound impact on how we think about commerce. I have tremendous respect for Etsy's Board and leadership team, and I look forward to contributing to all of the fantastic work that the team does on an ongoing basis.” As Peggy joins, Jim Breyer will be stepping off the Board after eight years. Jim is a force of nature and I have learned a tremendous amount from him. I am incredibly grateful to Jim for his unflagging support of the Etsy team, his world-class insights into our business and the industry at large, and his friendship. I and the team at Etsy have been extremely fortunate to have the privilege of working with Jim as we’ve grown over the past eight years. Thank you, Jim! I believe that Etsy’s Board is strong and dynamic. I am immensely proud of the diverse range of expertise and experience that our directors collectively bring to Etsy, and I am even more grateful for their ongoing support and passion. My fellow Board members serve as close partners to me and the rest of Etsy's leadership team, and I look forward to their ongoing contributions as we continue to grow and build Etsy for the long term.
