April is Earth Month at Etsy, and we’re celebrating with a call to action: bring nature in.

Etsy’s community is filled with makers, curators and people who love one-of-a-kind items, all of whom rely on nature’s resources to drive their passions and businesses, from the raw materials used to make unique goods to the fuel that enables the transport and delivery of supplies and finished products (to everything in between). April is Earth Month at Etsy, so we’re taking care to celebrate the planet that sustains us, inspires our creations and makes our work possible with a call to action to our community: bring nature in. We’re working with our friends at The Nature Conservancy, a leading conservation organization that protects lands and waters for nature and people, to help identify how we can all integrate nature into our lives. Whether it’s adopting sustainable practices for your business, going outside for creative inspiration or livening up your workspace with greenery to reduce stress, we ask that you join us in paying tribute to nature by actively incorporating it into your life. We’ve also shared personal stories about the importance of our relationship with and reliance on nature, including what it’s like to be Mark Paterson, bee keeper extraordinaire. Across our offices around the world, we’ve hosted nature-themed craft nights, crafternoons, meals and events. All told, throughout April we’ve consumed more than 800 vegetarian meals, potted more than 400 plants, made 35 flower crowns and held countless outdoor meetings. But our actions and commitment to the environment don't end May 1st. At Etsy, we’re committed to incorporating environmental sustainability into every facet of our business, from the food we offer to our employees to the furniture you’ll find in our offices around the world. In Brooklyn, employees potted succulents from TheSucculentSource.[/caption] In fact, the Etsy Sustainability Commission, comprising Etsy employees throughout the company, work year-round to tackle our carbon and waste impact, create strategies to address the mindful use of natural resources and develop work opportunities that enable personal and economic well-being while contributing to a lasting and fulfilling world. Now that’s Earth Day, every day. Whatever our passions or creations, our lives are linked to the natural world. We believe embracing and understanding our relationship with nature is something we can all do to make a difference.
