In addition to today’s Apple Pay announcement, last month we added Google+ Sign-in and Google Wallet integrations, which allow buyers to register and pay in just a few taps in the Etsy app on their Android device. Google Wallet is available to buyers in the US using the Android 4.0 operating system and above.
Offering buyers simple, seamless ways to shop and pay securely in our apps is a key priority for us, and we continue to add more mobile payment options to provide optimal flexibility for our community of buyers and sellers alike. Since we launched Direct Checkout in 2012, we’ve added multiple ways for buyers to check-out online and in-person from their mobile devices using credit and debit cards, Etsy Gift Cards and Euro-specific local payment methods.
Last fall, we launched in-person payments, which is designed to make buying in-person simple and seamless. The Sell on Etsy Reader is available to US sellers with the Sell on Etsy app on iOS and Android to process credit card transactions and record cash sales made at craft fairs, flea markets, and elsewhere.
We know from our research that shoppers buy more when they can use their local currency and familiar payment methods, and we’ll continue to add more options on mobile devices and across the Etsy marketplace. Sellers can add Direct Checkout to their accounts here.
