Etsy Hands-On: Printed and Bound Books

Jan 4, 2013

by Claire Comfort handmade and vintage goods

Join us January 11 in the Brooklyn Etsy Labs for Hands-On: Printed and Bound Books to learn paper screenprinting techniques with Kayrock Screenprinting. You’ll make a hand-printed image and create a bound book — the perfect place to keep track of your New Year’s resolutions!

Karl LaRocca, owner of the Etsy shop PrintedByKayrock and Brooklyn-based business Kayrock Screenprinting, will guide us through the screenprinting process and give the lowdown on the type of ink to use, the best angle to hold the squeegee, and the amount of pressure to apply.

While your hand-pulled print dries, you’ll fold up blank papers and custom Kayrock prints to create a notebook. New to bookmaking? This project is the perfect opportunity to learn a simple pamphlet-stitch binding technique from our very own bookmaking pro, Julie Schneider.

Don’t miss out — be sure to RSVP to this Etsy Hands-On event.  Can’t make it? RSVP and watch the demo in the Online Labs.  And stay in touch by joining the Etsy Labs Team for event photos and other DIY project ideas.
