Here at Etsy, we have two distinct goals for the future: to grow Etsy outside the United States, and to help sellers build their businesses on the Etsy platform. The latest version of Etsy for iPhone, released today, adds additional languages — bringing Etsy to more shoppers — as well as seller features that make shop management a breeze.
In fact, more and more people are using mobile devices to visit Etsy — today, 1 in 4 visits to Etsy is from a mobile device. We also find that the members using Etsy for iPhone are some of our most engaged shoppers. In fact, our iOS app converts visits to purchases at almost twice the site average.
Since we launched the first iPhone app (and added Shop Stats back in May), sellers have been requesting more functionality to allow them to manage their shops. We’re happy to announce that sellers will now be able to upload new listings from their phones whenever inspiration hits. Whether you’re crafting paper sculpture in a home studio in Munich or sourcing vintage items in Holland, simply grab your phone, take a picture, and upload new items to your shop with just a few taps of the finger.
Now that sellers can upload and modify listings directly through the Etsy app, it’s possible to manage an Etsy shop for weeks on end, without ever turning on a computer. We hope this will make it easier for sellers to keep up with holiday demand, and we can’t wait to see the new mobile listings pour in.
With these new additions, we expect mobile transactions to be hotter than the iPhone 5 this holiday season.
