Etsy Hands-On: Letterpress Puppets

Oct 9, 2012

by Claire Comfort handmade and vintage goods

The talented Etsy seller, animator and author, Norma Toraya, a.k.a. crankbunny, will join us on Tuesday, October 23 in the Brooklyn Etsy Labs to introduce us to the magical world of articulated paper puppets. We will begin each session cranking out copies of Norma’s custom doll on the Vandercook letterpress. Never printed before? No problem! We will guide you through the printing process.

After printing, customize your doll template with ink and watercolors using inspiration from Norma’s tattoo dolls and Day of the Dead illustrations. Once your doll is printed, painted and cut, Norma will show you how to bring these puppets to life.

We hope to see you at the Brooklyn Etsy Labs to participate in this multimedia project! If you can’t make it, learn how to draw and assemble your own articulated paper puppet by tuning in to our Livestream demo at 4:30 p.m. ET.
