It seems like just yesterday we were debuting shiny, new Etsy for iPhone, stuffing eleven million beautiful, one-of-a-kind items right into your pocket. No longer did you have to settle for waiting at the bus stop in boredom. The app made it easy and fun to find something inspiring on the go.
Well, folks, less than four months later we’re here: one million downloads! (Cue the ceiling balloons.) Not only has a world of iPhone users downloaded the app, they have then proceeded to use the heck out of it. With 25-60% growth in visits month-over-month since its release, and an average of 30 pageviews per visit, Etsy for iPhone has developed into quite the social butterfly.
No one could be prouder than Jey Biddulph, whose winning submission in our API contest was the seedling to this glorious app. Jey has since officially joined the Etsy staff, one of many representatives from our developer community who build tools inspired by the needs of the independent, creative businesses powering this marketplace. The number of apps like Jey’s, built on Etsy’s API, have grown more than 500% in the last year alone.
Etsy for iPhone is just one piece of the wider-world platform we’re continuing to build and improve upon. Our latest app release includes Direct Checkout, which makes it easier than ever to shop on your phone. Stay tuned for exciting updates, and if you haven’t already downloaded Etsy for iPhone, what are you waiting for?
Psst… To all the Android developers out there, we’re hiring!
