A Hands-On Year at the Etsy Labs

Our beakers and test tubes are bubbling and sparkling with the potion we have been concocting for our newest experiments at the Etsy Labs. As you may recall, our Brooklyn events have been on hiatus for the month of January, while we’ve been refining our platter of 2012’s public programming. Well, January is winding down, and we’re ready to share some news with you. Drumroll, please!

We’re excited to announce a new series of creative programming called Hands-On Etsy. This is an evolution of our beloved Craft Night series at the Etsy Labs in Brooklyn, and will feature a focused monthly event with an extra big creative bang. We invite you to join us at our Hands-On events to engage with special guest artists and our rock star community, while learning new processes to spark creativity and engaging in a meaningful exchange of ideas and skills, using a variety of media, tools, and perspectives. Expect well-crafted happenings centered around themes and seasons, with lots of opportunities to get your hands dirty.

The Hands-On series will be held one night per month, and the day of the week it’s held will vary from month to month to accommodate for different work and life schedules. While this will indeed replace the weekly Craft Nights of the past, we’re confident that our creative programming will be better than ever! If you find yourself hankering for those unstructured evenings of making, formerly dubbed Open Craft Night, we invite you to join us for one of the monthly Church of Craft meetings. The Code as Craft technology talks and an assortment of other events will also continue happening at our space. The creative programming we host and sponsor in other cities and countries (such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Germany, France, England, Australia, and the Netherlands) will carry on as usual, and will continue to grow and evolve as they have been. Keep up to date on what’s going on at the Etsy Labs in Brooklyn by keeping your eyes on the Events page and subscribing to the Etsy Labs newsletter.

Details for our first Hands-On event will be announced tomorrow. In the meantime, save the date for a special Valentine’s activity on Tuesday, February 7!

The End of Craft Night!! HEARTBRAKING That beautiful ever changing continuous community scattered to the four winds. This is not an evolution, this is an unfathomable loss.

I just learned about Craft Night a couple of months ago and from what I've heard, I'm also sorry to see it go. Luckily, I live close enough to attend the new monthly sessions so I'm really psyched about that. I've had an Etsy shop fpr almost 3 years aqnd haven't taken advantage at all of all the help they provide. I'll definitely be peeking into every corner I can find from now on.

I add my vote to stopping in San Diego (maybe instead of LA?). We have a huge, crafty community down here, less traffic, beautiful scenery and great venues for you to hold the workshops. You won't regret it!

As a regular at Craft Night I am devastated to see it go. It was a "too good to be true" program - that I guess really was too good to be true. It was my Monday pick-me-up, the thing I would look forward to all week, a way to meet other crafty people on a regular basis. Really sad to see it go :(

I don't want to sound like a moron, but just to clarify, there are no more Monday craft nights? I went to the Church of Craft link & they said there are.... just a lil confused...do we come tomorrow night or is the only craft event on 2/16 w/church of craft?
