It’s so exciting to see a team get recognized for all of its hard work. Karen, a.k.a. ecokaren, and the captain of the Eco Etsy Team, tells us all about their exciting partnership with Sprint that was announced just last week.
When Sprint contacted me about the opportunity for our team’s blog to be featured in its new Green ID pack, I couldn’t believe it. But then, I wasn’t too surprised — we have worked tirelessly to create a very successful and engaging blog that more than 14 members contribute to on a regular basis. The topics we cover range from eco-tips and tutorials to news about the environment. We also share advice for building and managing our handmade businesses, feature our creative members, and review members’ Etsy shops.
It turned out that what Sprint was interested in was not just our content, but also the amazingly creative and eco-friendly handmade crafts that our talented members make and sell on Etsy. The idea was for Android customers to be able to click from their mobile devices directly to our Etsy shops where they can browse and buy our crafts. It was more than thrilling to hear that a big corporation like Sprint was interested in working with a small team of environmentally conscious artists.
What is Green ID Pack?
The Green ID pack has four screens: Shop Green, Green Now, Live Green, and Take Action.
The “Shop Green” screen will feature our team’s logo that will take the users to our website. From the website, they can click the category tabs on the left, which will bring them to each member’s items on Etsy. We will be sharing the screen with some prominent companies like eBay Green, Greendeals.org, Seasonal Harvest, and Light Bulb Finder.
As you can imagine, we are extremely proud and excited about this recognition and the opportunity to work with one of America’s greenest companies (number 6 in the country as listed by Newsweek in 2010). In addition, Sprint received the “Sustainability Leadership Award” at the 2010 International Electronics Recycling Conference and Expo for its work among wireless carriers in the recycling of mobile handsets.
Team Eco Etsy is a moderated team of over 400 active members who are dedicated to managing our Etsy shops in an eco-friendly manner. We participate in team events such as Annual Handmade for Earth Day Auction and Green Holiday Giveaway, support each other in team forums, and will have our first meet-up at the Etsy Labs in Brooklyn this June.
Want to get involved in Eco Etsy’s Second Annual Handmade for Earth Day Auction? The team will be donating treasuries of eco-friendly items to the highest bidders and proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity Japan. Find more details here.
