Join Beth and Joanna, founders of Pop Gardens, to make your own hydroponic planter online and at the Etsy Labs in Brooklyn. Come turn a 1 or 2 liter soda bottle into a planter for growing your own indoor garden that will breathe fresh life into your space. You’ll get to construct a planter, decorate it to your heart’s content, and plant seeds. We’ve sewn fabric at Craft Night many times, but this is the first time we’ve gotten to sow seeds!
A note from Beth & Joanna: Our company, Pop Gardens, is brand new, founded in late 2010. As school teachers, we wanted to create an engaging plant study for kids that could easily be used in classrooms or at home. Recycled 2-liter plastic bottles are transformed into simple planters perfect for watching the whole life cycle of the plant from seed to harvest. Approximately 2,500,000 plastic bottles are thrown away each hour in the United States. It’s a staggering amount of waste. We also want to teach kids how critical it is to be aware of what and how much we consume. We think Pop Gardens are a great way to upcycle an everyday object, turning garbage into something new and beautiful. They are a science project and a garden rolled into one.
Pop Gardens aren’t just for kids. Anyone can grow a fabulous indoor, windowsill herb garden year-round or outdoors in the spring and summer. Our home kits has everything someone needs to get their garden going. All you need is a little light and a lot of love.
All ages and skill levels are welcome at this free springtime Craft Night. All supplies will be provided.
