Consider June 2 the official Craft Party pre-party in the great state of California. I’m pleased to announce that this coming Thursday marks the date of two hands-on happenings at two amazing craft museums hosted by two friends of Etsy: Craft Night at the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles (our very first one here!) and Craft Bar at the Museum of Craft and Folk Art in San Francisco. Read on for full details.
Brooklynites, take note: Craft Night is cancelled on Monday, May 30 in honor of Memorial Day. We’ll resume the following week with a sewing workshop on June 6 with Bags for the People.

Join Etsy and the Craft and Folk Art Museum for our first Craft Night in Los Angeles! CAFAM is transforming their outdoor courtyard into a hub of crafting and festivities. This time we will be making duct tape beads. Transform this versatile material into a necklace, bracelet or key chain and explore the museum’s galleries, meet new people, and enjoy a night under the stars! Drinks will be provided by Stone Brewing Co. $5 admission includes materials, snacks, and drinks. Suggested RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org.
When: Thursday, June 2 from 7 to 9 p.m. PT at CAFAM.
Where: The Craft and Folk Art Museum, 5814 Wilshire Blvd (at Curson), Los Angeles, CA 90048
Craft Bar at Museum of Craft & Folk Art in SF
Join us at our monthly extravaganza to make a plush cyclops with author, artist, and seasoned Craft Night teacher Diana Schoenbrun! Sew your very own mini-cyclops softie, a project from her book Beasties: How to Make 22 Mischievous Monsters That Go Bump in the Night. (Diana also shared a zombie-making project with us from her book for a How-Tuesday post last year.) All ages are welcome. $5 admission includes materials, tips, and tricks. $1 beers provided by Thirsty Bear Brewing Co.
Will we see you at one of these happenings? Let us know in the comments below.
