Calling all sweet-toothed crafters! The 4th Annual Cupcake Craft Night is upon us. Join in the fun and satisfy not only that sugar craving, but also your creative streak. On Monday, July 19, we’ll be concocting cupcake-themed craft projects at the Etsy Labs with our pals from Cupcakes Take the Cake, KnitKnit, and daniellexo. Cupcakes Take the Cake will be providing cupcakes to eat as inspiration, as will Cake Lab. We encourage you to bring your own cupcakes to share as well!
Nguyen Le (a.k.a. KnitKnit) will be lending her fiber expertise to show us how to make super cute needle felted pinback buttons. If you have a bottle cap that you would like to recycle for this project, please bring it along. We’ll have everything else you need on hand.
Etsy Admin Danielle Maveal (a.k.a. daniellexo) will show us how to transform humble paper and thread into embroidered notecards, as pictured below.
Here is the scoop in a nutshell…
- Where: 55 Washington Street, Suite 512 in Brooklyn, New York
- RSVP here.
If you are attending Craft Night virtually this week and would like to craft along with us, you’ll need to gather the following supplies.
For the needle-felted badge project:
- Felting needles
- Foam cushion to felt upon
- Embroidery thread
- Sewing needle
- Buttons or bottle caps to cover
- Pin backs or safety pins
For the notecard embroidery project:
- Tracing paper
- 6 strand embroidery floss
- Sewing needle
- A simple outline to embroider
- Felt (or something soft to poke into)
- Download this cupcake design
Or, just be ready to take some notes and see if these are projects that you would like to try out later on.
If cupcakes just aren’t sweet enough for you, check out this heart-warming story about Nico (pictured above) and her friend Susan from last year’s Cupcake Craft Night.
