Etsy in the Press: Good Morning America

UPDATE: Here is the link to the video.

Tory Johnson, founder of Women For Hire, was on Good Morning America on Wednesday, August 6th, 2008, presenting Etsy as a great place to open a home-based business. Johnson recently authored a new book, Will Work From Home: Earn the Cash Without the Commute. Chanel Kennebrew from junkprints was highlighted as a successful seller who makes a living working from home. To see more of Chanel, check out her Handmade Video Portrait.

We experienced a record number of page views as a result of the GMA spot—our first 12 million page view day. We also had a record number of new buyers (nearly 4000!) sign up for the site.

The video featuring Johnson is not yet available on the web, but we will post it as soon as it is live.

presenting Etsy as a great place to open a home-based business ---------------------------------- oh too bad I was hoping she'd be presenting Etsy as a great place to SHOP and BUY

MagicIsland, our Marketing team here is certainly pitching the buyer side of the story. Sometimes press outlets have a story in mind already and we had to take what we could get. The exposure is good, so we're happy, but yes, always striving to get you guys more buyers! Onward!

thanks Vanessa I understand I've been part of the press for many years, any press is good press but I'd love to see Etsy getting the free publicity as a great place to shop. It is a great place to shop! Don't get me wrong I l-o-v-e etsy. I'd like for more people to hear about Etsy as a great place to shop. Especially in this economy you would think a "buy locally" story would appeal to the press. I'm sure some stores on here would be happy to contribute to a press packet if you would send them out, I'd contribute.
