Most of us know firsthand the rich relationships that can be built on Etsy, through blog comments, treasuries, the Forums, convos, and the Virtual Labs, but there is no experience quite like shedding the avatar and meeting in person. Etsy’s video producers were fortunate enough to meet heaps of talented artists in 2010. Musician Catherine Thompson from Saskatchewan whittled flutes out of bone for us, and crochet superstar and ultra-perfectionist Yokoo let us in on her interior monologue. Yael Erel and Avner Ben Natan of Lightexture dazzled us with their luminous modern fixtures. Baba from the Hyland Park, California shop Pets With Fez showed us the ancient art of Persian rug weaving, and Orien MacDonald of Old School Tools took us back to the land and blacksmithed, old-school style.
We’ve also seen our team grow, the How-Tuesday video series returned to a monthly rhythm, and our guest filmmaker program flourished with pieces in production in South Africa, New Zealand and Germany. The coming year is going to be chock-full of compelling stories.
If you missed any of these highlights, we compiled a playlist from our Handmade Portraits, Process and There’s No Place Like Here video series to highlight some of the Etsy sellers who worked with us over the past year. See our free iTunes podcast for all of our videos.
Thanks for a great year! Post about your favorite Etsy video in the comments.
