Passover Sweet Tooth

Mar 29, 2010

It’s no secret, I have a sweet tooth. At Etsy, I’m known for my well-stocked candy or cookie stash. Need a sugar fix? Just find me! But what about Passover?

Passover is the Jewish holiday commemorating our ancestors’ flight from Egypt. We had to leave in such a hurry, that our bread didn’t even have time to rise. To remember this time, traditionally, many Jews do not eat leavened bread during Passover. For around eight days, we trade our fluffy bread, bagels, and rolls for flat, crispy, and delicious matzah. But what about my sweets?!

Growing up, my mother knew about my sugar obsession and she always had me covered, even during Passover. Every year my mother makes amazing macaroons, meringue cookies, and my favorite, chocolate covered matzah. Check out these scrumptious Passover-friendly dessert recipes on the Smitten Kitchen blog.

Let’s drool over our favorite Passover desserts in the comments below! Happy Passover, Etsy friends!

I flew out the matzoh kippah to FB. LOL! We make matzos drizzled with dark chocolate and then while the chocolate is still gooey sprinkle with pistachios, cashews, dried apricots and cherries. Mmmmm.

matzah and chocolate are not allowed near each other, im pretty sure if there were "sins" it would be top of the list... now Maror and chocolate, that is something I could get behind.

Just came home (after hours of traffic jams) from the Seder in my brother home. When i was a kid we used to have only Chocklate balls made of chocklate and matze crums. Now there are so many Kosher substitute to flour you can't make the different. Anyway chocklate in all form is my favorit. Have a lovely Passover with lots of Mtze (i like it too with chocklate spread) Yael, Tel Aviv Isreael

"austinaddy does anybody know if im allowed to eat chocolate on passover. hurry up and answer because ive got a sweet tooth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" ----------- Just look for the "kosher for passover" seal... if it doesn't have one, then it's not kosher for passover. If you don't care much for kashrut anyways, then just enjoy what there is. ;) חג פסח כשר ושמח, everyone!
