New Home Decor Trends With Kelly + Olive

Nov 29, 2011

by kellyandolive handmade and vintage goods

Lauren Paradise and Courtney Davis started their decorating careers at age 14, when they painted perfectly lovely bathroom an ungodly shade of orange. They then proceeded to get degrees in theatre, but design and creativity was never far away. As they skipped from apartment to apartment as actors in the Windy City, they developed not only their collective color sense, but noses for bargains and an obsession with crafting and decorating blogs. Working together came naturally, and soon kelly + olive was born. Lauren and Courtney reside in Chicago, designing and redesigning for customers around the world.

Internet friends! Season’s greetings from the kelly + olive design headquarters here in chilly Chicago! If you’ve been a client of ours, or follow our many Internet ramblings, you know we’re huge fans of handmade home goods. We think there’s no better way to inject personality into a space outfitted with affordable, off-the-shelf furniture. And so, for our gift guide today, we’re focusing on four of our favorite new trends in home decor: feathers, metallics, rustic wood in modern shapes, and text & typography. These gifts are perfect for a loved one whose place needs a little contemporary pizzazz, a trend-setting friend who’s always in the know or, you know, for yourself! As a reward for all your thoughtful pie baking, card sending, and gift wrapping, you deserve a treat!
