“My lingerie is for people who break the rules, who have character and who assert themselves as individuals,” says designer Virginie Rouffignac. And she’s right. Her saucy collections of limited edition lingerie embody her ideas of gender politics, creative expression, and social provocation. Sexy, loose, and divine to the touch, her wares are designed to literally and figuratively liberate the women who sport them. Her tongue-in-cheek men’s line, inspired by comic book super heroes and Mexican Lucha Libre wrestlers, is also aimed at freeing men from societal constraints. More than frilly things that exist under your clothes, Rouffignac believes that lingerie can and should be a means of empowerment and fun — for both men and women.
Sonia Gonzalez splits her time between Paris and New York where she works as a filmmaker and a journalist.

First of all, let me say that I love the men's underwear. However, you say that you don't use female model because you don't want to "objectify" them as mere objects to attract men (or something to that effect). That's fluffy and nice and all; however, it doesn't explain why you feel at liberty to use male models. Honestly, I'm slightly offended that you feel that me only view women in this manner. Secondly, I'm slightly offended that men aren't held in same high esteem. Just a thought to help your marketing. I do love your product though.

Isn't it a bit of a double standard to avoid using women in photo shoots but to use men in them? Although at the same time, there has always been a double standard in a way, and she seems to have switched that, which is interesting. I love her lingerie, it's lovely!

Emily Tobias from Scissaroo said 6 years ago
Love your products! They are very lovely! I do have to ask, though, (as also pointed out by others) why is it okay to use male models and not female? I'm not saying that I want to see scantily clad women, but men are judged by physical appearance also. Seems like a double standard.

First of all, thank you so much for your positive feedback ;-)))) To answer the question of men and not women picture : The men I have chosen are not dummies. I did not make a picture of men object, they are men of our day. They all have an object with them, because I want to give them a voice. The word of who they really are. So I asked them to pause with the object that represented their passion in their lives. And especially not their job, because men are often reduced to only their foxions in society .... I think eventually they rarely have the opportunity to tell that they are really human beings ... These pictures are my way of talking about what I feel for men in our society ... It was a way for me to highlight the value in men .... The photo is not me, but a great French photographer evestreet gift here is the link to their websit : http://evestreet.wix.com/webv2 Perhaps one day there will be a picture of women as well. The day I would have found the idea convien me for this ...
mazedasastoat from mazedasastoat said 6 years ago
Beautiful work, & I agree about not objectifying women. I also have no real problem with showing pictures of men modelling the underwear, as they don't look like wannabee porn stars. Maybe you'll be able to think of a way to use women as models without making them look like objects, I hope so.

Mary Lezcano from BellaBboutique said 6 years ago
This woman is the definition of fabulous. She is not only immensely talented but has got such a liberating take on the purpose of lingerie in the first place. Women are not gift packages for men, but heck, if we want to wear something beautiful in bed for ourselves then this is is the kind of attitude I think we should have about it. Well done.
Brandy Franklin from zenmasterflash said 6 years ago
Such a beautifully done video! I wanna make my guy wear those - cross your fingers for me.
paradigmsshift from paradigmsshift said 6 years ago
Virginie, Thanks for trying to explain. Are you saying that you have no problem using women as models? I couldn't tell by your response; however, your video for sure implied that it was wrong for women to be used in this way...hence, I took offence that men were being used. I don't personally have a problem with you using either gender. I agree men, as well as women, are capable of deciding whether they are being used and objectified (Although, I do know some people that would view your male models as sex objects). In today's society though, I believe that women and men alike are able to view the body in a different light than in centuries past. Either way, I think it is ever important to stress that both men and women are given equal respect and and choice in the matter and to be clear that no double standard is being given. Despite all of the confusion, the skivies are still hot!

At the risk of objectifying the men in your photos, I respectfully suggest that a calendar (or book) full of them would be wonderful! They all exude such character, and the photos beg to be looked at again and again.
Lisa from NirvanaRoad said 6 years ago
Totally cool! I love the creative out of the box marketing!!!
Melinda from FlowerMoundEscape said 6 years ago
I think that if you put any gender in fun sexy underwear you risk someone looking at them as a sex object. Someone who is looking for a reason to be offended will usually find it. That being said, good job!!! These "objects" are funny and sexy at the same time. Reminds me that my hubby may need new undies soon. Even if I have to go to his drawers with scissors!
