My name is Anne-Sophie Godby, a.k.a. treeforyou, and I’m a 24-year-old Belgian living in the UK. I started my Etsy shop in May, 2009. I just got married, and I’m planning on going back to Belgium at the end of the year. I started making jewelry when I was 16, and I never stopped! I also love sewing and cooking. I have just finished three years working as a French teacher, and I’m now going to concentrate on my shop treeforyou.
My two passions are tea (I collect teapots, cups and have a cupboard full of tea varieties) and trees. I love going for walks and guessing what type of tree is in front of me. I donate one dollar from each pet tree necklace that I sell to a charity called Arbor Day that plants trees.
A friend told me about Etsy a few months ago, and I’m so delighted to have joined because it helped me meet some amazing, friendly people. I love shopping on here too. You find so many unique and original items. I can’t count the number of times people have stopped me downtown to ask, “Where did you get your T-shirt? Is it from the High Street?” “No,” I say, “Etsy!”
My studio is in my flat in Manchester. I work on a very big table, always drinking a cup of tea, with all the beads laid out in front of me so I can try different combinations. Manchester is such a big city; I really love it, but I miss the Belgian countryside a lot. So, it seemed natural to create these little pet tree necklaces. It is like having a tiny greenhouse around your neck. I have one and never leave the house without it. I’ve named it Terry!
I love nature and trees. I cannot wait for fall and winter to arrive so I can create more seasonal jewelry. I love working with the forest theme. A pet tree necklace would make such a good Christmas gift. I will have to make some special ones!
