by Isabella Cascio handmade and vintage goods

Hi! My name is Isabella Cascio, and I am the owner, designer, jewelry maker and photographer of Stilosissima, which means “very stylish” in Italian. I create pieces from my home studio in San Diego, California, where I live with my husband and daughter.

I started to make jewelry few years ago because I couldn’t find what I was looking for. I found that I love being creative, so I decided to take all the classes I could — I wanted to be able to make more complex designs and use metals. It was the beginning of a wonderful journey.

I am inspired by my love of modern art — I like simple designs and clean lines with a few small accents. When I think of a new jewelry piece, concept, design and wearability are definitely the first steps. Next comes fabrication, which can be challenging even after years of experience. Last but not least are filing and polishing, which are essential for comfortable wear. Trying to express my own vision of beauty gives me an amazing feeling of energy and vitality.

Sometimes customers ask for a custom piece. This presents a great opportunity for me to experiment with new ideas. I would love to see their expression when they open their package!

I think great customer service is the key for success. I am committed to creating a great experience for each buyer. I try to make everything perfect, from answering my emails in a timely manner to making beautiful jewelry pieces and presenting them in elegant packaging. I like to create a little connection with my customers, and I want them to feel happy. I once received a very long, beautiful email expressing the happiness and joy a customer felt from a ring I made. It brought happy tears to my eyes.

Etsy means a lot to me because it allows me to do what I enjoy in a flexible way. I can organize my days, do what I love, and still have time for my daughter’s activities. That is priceless. In the last few years, I have had the opportunity to grow a lot as an artist and business owner. I feel content every morning, happy to start working  in my studio, and looking forward to another day full of creativity.

It is rewarding and fulfilling to be able to think of an object, design it, and make it. Being there and being part of the entire process gives me a lot of knowledge and experience – I see the whole picture. I know what I can and can’t do, I have control. There is a little bit of me in each jewelry piece I make, and it feels wonderful to know that I might have helped someone create a memory.
