Hello! My name is Francesca, and I live in a small town in northern Italy. I’m the creative mind behind MosMea, and I make storytelling creatures for people who love nature, dreams, and fairy tales.
I come from a creative family – my grandparents and great-grandparents were all talented artists – but I don’t have formal training in anything I make. I started painting in the summer of 2013 as a way to rehabilitate my wrist after an accident. Before that, I owned a small fashion lab for several years.
I like simple things, like garden flowers, good music, and long walks. For me, painting is meditative. It relaxes my mind and makes everything seem easier. I love trying to replicate the beauty of nature in my work.
I paint all of my pieces at my dining room table, with my cat by my side. Some pieces take a long time to paint, but details are key and every brush stroke is necessary to achieve the final result. I have a deep respect and appreciation for nature, so I prefer to use cotton fabric and water-based colors. I don’t use animal components, and whenever possible I use recycled packaging materials for shipping.
Etsy has given me the opportunity to reach people all over the world from my home. A lot of my orders are custom pieces; I love when a customer asks me to do something different than what I offer in my shop. It’s interesting to see their ideas come to life and take my work in new directions.
