My name is Anya Ostapenko, and I design and make handcrafted bridal accessories for Bride La Boheme. I live near the beach in Sydney, Australia with my husband and our two-year-old son.
The idea for Bride La Boheme came about almost five years ago when I was getting married. I was really struggling to find stylish, affordable accessories with a slightly vintage vibe; everything I found was shiny and new and looked very “bridal,” if you know what I mean. Dissatisfied with my options, I started sketching some designs of my own. After the wedding, I started making my designs; with that, Bride La Boheme was born.
I draw inspiration from timeless vintage hair accessories, bridal sashes, and other creations delicately made by hand in previous eras. I work with crystals, lace petals, and nature-inspired details to make my headbands and beaded hair combs. I absolutely adore making pieces for free-spirited brides with a boho and vintage aesthetic.
I discovered Etsy in the early days while I was planning my own wedding, and being part of the Etsy community has made it possible for me to start and grow my business. My future goals include having my own boutique in Sydney (of course!), where I can show my designs and invite brides to try them on in person. For now, I’m concentrating on creating a full range of veils, crystal capelets and boleros to complement my line of hair accessories and bridal sashes, which is very exciting.
