My name is Becca Stadtlander and I’m an illustrator from Covington, Kentucky. I make prints of my original paintings and also design paper goods, including greeting cards and the occasional booklet. My work is hand painted in my studio, and printed for my shop.
I’ve been producing artwork since I was little, and I just can’t seem to stop. When I discovered illustration, I knew it was something I needed to do. The idea of sharing my artwork in a way that could apply to everyone, every day, appealed to me immediately. I started working as a freelancer a couple of years ago, and now I get to do what I love for a living.
My favorite paintings start out as images that zoom into my head out of nowhere. It’s usually always something simple – like an object or an animal – and I know I just need to paint it and get it out of my head. When I can see an image so clearly, it’s easy and relaxing to paint, and somehow nearer and dearer to my heart.
I believe in making things to the best of my ability, and treating every product with care and preciousness. Handmade objects have an undeniable charm made beautiful through craftsmanship. Good craftsmanship never goes unnoticed. To me, it not only means treating your products with care, but presenting them in a special way. With so many amazing handmade products available, quality presentation and design can make a world of difference.
My creative business has helped me develop as both an artist and a professional, most notably in my pursuit of growth and new ideas. It gives me a role in my creative world to make more and do more. Perusing an identity as a freelancer and shop owner has forced me to stay current and take advance of the internet and all it has to offer.
I never could have imagined all the good things that would come from having an Etsy shop. It’s a perfect creative bubble that has allowed my work to be seen and spread all over the ever-growing art and design world of the internet. It made it possible for me to connect with people all over the world, both as a professional and a customer. Etsy is also an endless source of inspiration, with so many amazing shops and products.
