What is the first thing you can remember making by hand? How and why did you make it?
Besides the primitive crayon murals on the walls of my parents house, the first thing I can truly remember making by hand was the poor mans acoustic guitar- made by stringing rubber bands across an old Kleenex box.
What inspires you? Where do your ideas come from?
I am inspired by music, nature, and European graffiti. Most of my ideas stem from my dissatisfaction with traditionalism and the communication stagnation that I feel creeping over American youth.
What are your favorite materials?
I love to use things that have had some sort of interesting “past life”. Recycled materials for new ideas. I also am continuously amazed by the things that you can do with spray paint. (Etsy tip: use the tag “pastlife” if anything you make contains recycled materials.)
Any tips for selling handmade stuff?
Don’t quit your day job! Selling handmade stuff is not (usually) a lucrative profession as much as it is a spiritually rewarding endeavor. As long as your making things you love, the 9 to 5 grind wont seem so bad. Plus, you dont want to loose touch with the “common man”:)
Apart from creating things, what do you do?
Work, Read, Make/Listen to Music, Ride Bikes, Try to make meaningful personal connections with people.
How can Etsy be improved? Any feature requests?
Some kind of collaboration section where sellers can come together and put up ideas, unfinished products or suggestions. Just to kinda get a feel for what projects other are working on, and share thoughts.
What is your favorite color?
