SuChin Pak is’s newest style correspondent. She can be seen on a variety of local and national TV shows sharing the inside scoop on everything DailyCandy thinks is fun, fashionable, and culturally stimulating. A former MTV news reporter, SuChin is also the co-founder of the successful and highly-curated Hester Street Fair, an outdoor community market in NYC’s Lower East Side. Through the Hester Street Fair, she has created a mini launching pad for emerging businesses — similar to how DailyCandy has helped many mom-and-pops go big time since its launch in 2000.

No matter your thoughts on Valentine’s Day, you have to admit there’s something sweet about a day devoted to love (or even a really strong “like”). To me, the best part of any holiday is the gift-buying experience — and supporting a small designer or artist spreads some good old-fashioned love even further.

Here’s a collection of gifts for the special people in your life.

For the Girl Who’s Just Not Into It

Beautiful gifts are a dime a dozen, but a present that’s practical, too? That’s pure joy. Take this reversible handmade scarf from my favorite Etsy designer, jillaikoyee. One side is bold, the other a little shy. Sound familiar?

Also great for the girl who’s just not that into Valentine’s Day: this hand-dyed leather fold over clutch from Giftshopbrooklyna vintage silk kimono from Prettylittleworldvtga beautiful photograph from Yvetteinufiothese vintage deco earrings from Cnicole; or these girl and boy pillow cases from Jennidesmond.

For the Manly Man

There’s no need to play games: if poker is his passion, play to win with a screen-print from Conilab, inspired by his favorite pastime. It’s easier than wearing your heart on your sleeve.

Also great for the manly man in your life: these deep space wood organizer boxes from Mclovebuddysome delicious dark chocolate cappuccino chip treats from Nicolestreatsa set of two hand-painted stemless wine glasses from Maryelizabethartsthis vintage Kodak Junior Six-20 camera from Mclovebuddy; or a Sessa Carlo backpack haversack from Mclovebuddy.

For the Woman Who Started It All

Remind Mom why she loves you by slapping your mug on, well, a mug from Shebbodesign. Customize it even further with a message that tells her why she’s still your number one.

Also great for amazing moms this Valentine’s Day: this handmade Super Mom card from Storeysho; a vintage, hand-stamped “I Love You” spoon from Olivespoonstudio; or this metallic leather brush case from Giftshopbrooklyn.

For the Friend You Can Always Count On

As the great Marlene Dietrich once said, “It’s the friends you can call up at 4 a.m. that matter.” This print from Birdandbloke reminds me that friends are sometimes the only remedy for a heartbreak. Thank her (or him) for taking that late-night call.

Also great for those special friends: this scrabble tile photo from Birdandblokesome beautiful nail art from Kate Broughtonthis rose gold pyramid stud ring with black crystals from Tinyarmour; or this functional canvas tote with leather straps from Cocosheaven.

What will you be giving this Valentine’s Day?
