Whew, this year has sure zipped by! The Etsy Labs have sprouted, bloomed and hosted a weekly burst of creativity, community, and shared skills at Craft Night (and all sorts of other events). Thank you to everyone who has visited, taught workshops, shared tips and snacks, donned a party hat at Etsy Craft Party, and generally made 2010 such a happening and inspiring year.
Craft Night in Brooklyn, NY:
In this flurry of activity, the time has come for our next move! The Etsy Labs will be moving on up to a new, bigger space in the same building here at 55 Washington Street. We’ll have a nice view and a lot more elbow room. We have all sorts of plans up our sleeves for the new space (including a lovely old library card catalog), and we’ll be working hard for the next month getting it ready for another year of handmade action! In the meantime, while we make our handmade visions come to life, Craft Night will be on hiatus. That’s right, our Monday Craft Night is cancelled until the end of January.
We will resume with the normal weekly Craft Night schedule on Monday, January 31, 2011, with Heidi Kenney from My Paper Crane and author of Every Day’s a Holiday: Year-Round Crafting With Kids. Please RSVP here, if you’d like to join us..
Craft Bar in San Francisco, CA:
For those of you in the Bay Area, I’m happy to announce that Craft Bar With Etsy Labs at MOCFA is back! This month at Craft Bar you can learn to spiff up your wardrobe with a jewelry-themed evening, featuring a range of projects. Make a felt bib necklace with local jewelry artist Katherine Coleman from KJC Designs, or create your own coil wrapped wire ring with Kelly Ball from Realia. Local artist Nicole Royer will also be teaching a workshop on how to upcycle old jeans into beautiful necklaces.
Have enough gems in your jewelry box? Stop by for the perennial favorite stitch and bitch area with drop-in instruction in knitting and crocheting. Enjoy cupcakes and tasty spreads from Stephanie Bushnell of Sweets la Petite. Drinks will kindly be provided by Trumer Pils. Don’t forget to take inspiration from the gallery and shop while you explore the creative process. Craft Bar is free with $5 admission to the museum.
When: Thursday, January 6 from 6 to 9 p.m. PT
Where: Museum of Craft and Folk Art at 51 Yerba Buena Lane, San Francisco, CA
