Craft Night in Brooklyn, NY
Mother’s Day is just around the corner — May 8, to be exact. Come on over to the Etsy Labs to make handmade pop-up cards and envelopes for your favorite moms. Esther K. Smith is the author of titles including How to Make Books and Magic Books & Paper Toys (this week’s project is an excerpt from the latter), and one half of Purgatory Pie Press, a dynamic bookbinding and letterpress printing duo who use only real wood and metal movable type.
Please bring some paper and a bone folder, if you have one. We’ll also have spare materials on hand. Esther will also have copies of her book for sale.
Where: 55 Washington Street, Suite 712 (7th floor) Brooklyn, New York, 11201
When: Monday, May 2. Full demos will be held hourly at 4:15, 5:15, 6:15, and 7:15.
Webcast: For those of you who can’t make it in person, we’ll be doing a live demo via Livestream at 3:30 p.m. ET. You can check out the feed right on the Etsy Community page.

Craft Bar With Etsy Labs in San Francisco
For this month’s Craft Bar we’re hosting a silkscreen project using iconic Sister Corita imagery from the 1960s. Create original collage designs with inks prepared to match period colors. Screen-print on paper to create posters Sister Corita style, or transfer these designs onto T-shirts and tote bags. Paper will be generously provided by local favorite Hello Lucky, and tote bags donated by Eco Bags. Expect a live music performance by Coconut and drinks from Trumer Pils. $5 includes admission, drinks, tips, and tricks. Additional fee of $5 for T-shirts and tote bags.
When: Thursday, May 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. PT at MOCFA.
Where: Museum of Craft and Folk Art at 51 Yerba Buena Lane, San Francisco, CA
