Cold Weather Style

Fall has always been my favorite time of the year; not only because it’s a relief from the staggering heat of late summer, but because it’s the perfect time to revitalize my wardrobe. Colder weather means more layering, more coverage, and ultimately more clothing.

The right scarf, a pair of gloves, and a new hat are sometimes all you need to give your cold weather look new life — and with the endless array of style choices, it’s easy to avoid looking uninspired. Here are a few accessory pairings that can heat up your look.

[1. Pompom knit hat by ClaireVerity; 2. Cable pattern mittens by HappyLaika; 3. California Poems scarf by leahgoren; 4. 1940s inspired brogue boots by goodbye folk.]

An oversized pompom on a classic beanie gives this hat a more playful edge. A printed silk scarf can also have a livelier effect than the standard knit. And if you live in the city, a sturdy new pair of boots is usually a must.

[1. Infinity cowl by MadebyChloee; 2. Galaxy dots beanie by theknitkid; 3. Vintage Bally Chelsea boot from jamesrowlandshop.]

I’ve love that cowls eliminate the fuss of deciding how to tie my scarf (call me lazy). All you need to do is wear it and go. No strategizing necessary.

[1. Slouchy knitted hat by nanoutriko; 2. The Soopascarf by Yokoo; 3. Woolen fingerless gloves by bykirabo.]

If you’re tired of greys and neutrals in your winter wardrobe, oxblood is this season’s standout color.

[1. Knitted turban by GunayKulbay; 2. Vintage 1960s crochet gloves from Luncheonettevintage; 3. Beige wool knitted neck warmer by denizgunes; 4. Vintage tweed pageboy boots from LapineOursVintage.]

Earthy neutrals can bring some warmth to your winter look. A turban is a striking alternative to the standard winter beanie, and it gives any ensemble more retro appeal.

[1. Chunky hand knit hat by YouNeedMoreFiber; 2. The Go Cowl by ClaireVerity; 3. Black fingerless gloves for men by BellaBlueKnits; 4. Mens’ vintage suede boots from nanometer.]

If you live in New York, you’ll likely get lost in a mass of monochrome. But when it comes down to it, black is still the new black.

Oversized, chunky scarves are such a great way to balance out the figure and create a dynamic silhouette. Somehow, I always feel lithe and lovely when I pair an extra long scarf wrapped several times around my shoulders with simple black yoga pants and layered tops. Warm, relaxed, and ready for a stroll through the leaves! :)

Love the cozy knits and quilts. Time to snuggle up with a good book, a hot mug of cocoa, and soft knitwear!
