This season, make every gathering a memorable occasion with a little handmade creativity. Eight Etsy sellers teamed up with Whole Foods Market to create a series of DIY craft tutorials aimed to make your holiday entertaining a bit sweeter. By day, Mandy is a health policy wonk. At night and on the weekends, she finds herself dreaming up handsome crafts for her shop, Fabric Paper Glue, from the Nashville home she shares with her husband, Michael, and their cat, Pete.

The best way to impress your guests is remembering all the little details — and let’s be honest, there are few among them more mundane than a receptacle for disposing of used appetizer picks. This project makes them decidedly more interesting with some good old-fashioned recycling, a little glittery twine, and about twenty minutes of your time.

Time: 20 Minutes
Difficulty: Easy

You will need:
2 empty water bottles or salad bar containers
Craft knife
Twine
Glue
Scissors
Paper gift tags

Step 1: If you’re using water bottles, use a craft knife to carefully cut the bottom off of each bottle to just slightly shorter than your appetizer picks.

Step 2: Beginning at the top, wrap each bottle or container in twine, affixing with small beads of glue every so often. Create a striped effect by using two colors of twine.

Step 3: Create labels by handwriting or stamping “Clean” and “Used” on two small paper gift tags.

Step 4: Tie each label on with a piece of twine.
