Ready to get involved in gardening, but not sure where to start? Get your hands dirty and make your own tiny terrarium and seed bombs on April 10 at the Etsy Labs; Kimberly Sevilla of Rose Red and Lavender will share her extensive expertise. All you need to bring is a small jar, and we’ll provide the supplies. Sign up and join us anytime between 5 and 8 p.m.
If you want to garden but lack access to an outdoor space, don’t fret. Britta Riley of Windowfarms makes vertical hydroponic platforms that allow you to grow up to 32 vegetable plants in a typical apartment window, year-round. Join us on April 10 to learn how they work!
Although Windowfarms are dirt free, rich soil is a key component to fresh food. Composting has become much easier in New York with compost locations at Greenmarkets throughout the city. Get compost tips from Etsy’s resident compost expert Jakob von Eichel and learn just how easy it is to escape the concrete jungle by volunteering time at the Red Hook Farms or Compost for Brooklyn.
Not all of us have green thumbs or the urge to grow our own produce, but luckily, we can support local farmers and enjoy fresh veggies and fruit all season long. Just Food will also be on hand to help you find your local CSA.
Members of Etsy Support will also be present to hear your story and answer any questions you have about Etsy. And you can enter a raffle for a living wall planter from Woolly Pocket!
