A Family Halloween handmade and vintage goods

Casey Baudoin is a party lover, stationery maker, overall DIY’er, and mom of two little boys, who just made a big move from Texas to Aberdeen, Scotland! Over on her blog, My Life as a Sugar Lander, she chronicles her latest projects, new recipes, and family life in the UK.

With sweater weather upon us and the arrival of pumpkin spiced lattes, it’s time to start planning parties, decorating, baking, and crafting! My love for the season is heightened now that I have my young boys to share them with. This will be the first year that my (almost) 3 year old will really get into dressing up and collecting candy!

We live in a “cozy” home, with colorful toys and books sprinkled throughout the living room. Since there is already so much going on in our space, I like to keep the fall decor simple, clean, and modern. A little garland here, a pumpkin or two there, a couple of beautiful illustrations are great ways to bring a little Halloween into your home.

I love to throw a good party, and a costume party would be so much fun for my boys and their friends.  The kids could come in their favorite masks, eat yummy cupcakes with cute little flags in them, and run outside in the fallen leaves.

[1. Copper glitter from QueenChlorine; 2. Twig pencils from inkkit; 3. Cardboard pumpkin from CharmiosHandmade; 4. Mini pinecones from VimVigorVintage; 5. Orange tape from inkkit; 6. Felt acorns by feltjar; 7. Black/silver twine from knotandbow; 8. Festive friends from mibostudio.]

My oldest is at the point where a glue stick and ripped paper will entertain him all day, so this season I want to do some fall crafts with him. Simple crafts are best, like glitter and a paper pumpkin, or stringing some pine cones and colorful felt acorns on some twine, and adding little tags with what we are thankful for written on them.
