Jen McCabe is the writer behind dreamy fashion and lifestyle blog Honey Kennedy. She lives in beautiful Portland, Oregon, with a husband who has an “old man” hat obsession and a disarmingly cute dog named after a troubled flapper. Jen loves featuring emerging designers, hosting giveaways, talking about old movies, Portland, vintage treasure, friends and food. When she isn’t blogging you can find her blathering away on Twitter, making music mixes for you on 8tracks, snapping photos of her home on Instagram, and pinning on Pinterest.

I think a lot of us misfits have found comfort in the oddball characters of Twin Peaks. Absorbing the surreal, highly stylized show at a young age definitely left an indelible, Douglas Fir-shaped mark on my psyche. (In fact, I still strive to be more like Audrey Horne!) For this collection, I’ve embraced the Twin Peaks theme and focused on three of my favorite characters: Audrey Horne, Agent Cooper and the Log Lady. If you want to watch the show again or for the first time, Twin Peaks was recently added to Netflix streaming — including the once elusive pilot episode.

[1. Vintage Rhinestone Tiara from mathildasattic; 2. William A Read Lodge plans from stcroixarchitecture; 3. Vintage Red Wing Work Boots from airstreamapparel; 4. Vintage 1959 NW Travel Book from finderskeepers26; 5. “Halt” 8x10 photograph from ablaze; 6. Vintage Snoqualmie Falls Linen Postcard from postcardsofthepast; 7. Classic Vintage Diary from GingerandPicklesmisc; 8. Best Friends Charm Necklace from madredeolivia; 9. Vintage Empire Travel Coffee Set from thehouseofoliver]

1. Laura Palmer was once the prom queen at Twin Peaks High School.

2. The Great Northern’s architecture was practically a character on the show, too!

3. These boots reminded me of something that Sheriff Truman or Deputy Andy Brennan would likely wear.

4. A sweet little vintage guide to the Pacific Northwest.

5. The swinging stoplight is a visual that has been burned into my mind.

6. I used to go up to Snoqualmie Falls all the time. Tip: If you go to the lookout at night, it’s a great place to kiss. There are bats that swoop around in the lights that shine on the falls.

7. It’s full of secrets.

8. Who would you give the other half to?

9. There might be a fish in that percolator!

[1. 1960s Vintage Fawn Cardigan from greatestfriend; 2. Vintage Pleated Wool Plaid Skirt from myfavoriteplum; 3. Vintage Cherry Brooch from TheSpunkyJunkShop; 4. Vintage 1950s Hot Roller Set from forrestinavintage; 5. Vintage Red Leather Kitten Heels from GreenEyesVintage; 6. Vintage White Lace Merry Widow from StelmaDesigns; 7. Tortoise & Rhinestone Hair Combs from Luzianalade; 8. Two-Tone Patent Leather Oxfords  from VerseauVintage; 9. Red Velvet Healing Lipstick from mojospa; Header: Audrey Horne Buttons from jenoaks]

1. Audrey had so many cute sweaters. She was such a bobby soxer!

2. Woolly plaid is such a Northwest staple. I love this skirt — it’s pretty close to the one that Audrey had in the pilot episode. Great colors!

3. Can you tie a cherry stem in your mouth?

4. Hot rollers for perfect waves in your bobbed hair.

5. Red kittens! Audrey would change into these once she got to school.

6. Something lacy for working up north at One-Eyed Jack’s. Or just to make cute sweaters look even better.

7. A hair comb to tuck up your curls on one side.

8. I loved Audrey’s two-tone oxfords! Classic.

9. Red lipstick, of course.

[1. Goldtone “Diane” Brooch from OwlBeYoursForever; 2.Vintage 1960s Men’s White Dress Shirt from Style Stash; 3. Vintage Gabardine Overcoat from misovintage; 4. SWANclothing Original Sock Garters from SWANclothing; 5. Vintage Cherry Pie Placemat from berryetsy; 6. French Arcopal Coffee Cups from GaloreGalore; 7. Red Rooster Roasters’ Organic Fair Trade Coffee from RedRoosterCoffee; 8. Vintage Westinghouse Transistor Tape Recorder from americangarage; 9. Mid-Century Barini Necktie from HoldTheWire; Header: Agent Cooper Buttons from jenoaks]

1. Diane, I’m holding in my hand a small box of chocolate bunnies.

2. A very nice dress shirt for Agent Cooper.

3. Make sure to get a nice gabardine overcoat, not a trench coat.

4. Dale Cooper wears sock garters! I love that Tara from SWANclothing makes them

5. Agent Cooper + Coffee = Cherry Pie. I used to go up to the Mar-T Cafe in North Bend (the diner in the show) to have pie and coffee with friends. It was pretty good! They had to up their pie game after the show aired.

6. Black as midnight on a moonless night.

7.  “Damn good coffee! And hot!” I had no idea you could buy coffee on Etsy until I looked.

8. Agent Cooper used a dictaphone, but I think he would have appreciated this beauty.

9. I think a anyone would look mighty dapper in this necktie!

[1. My Log Saw Something That Night drawing from rheamack; 2. Vintage 1980s Red Eyeglasses Frames from atrickey; 3. Autumn Spirit Cardigan from HihloStudio; 4. Vintage Faux Bois Thermos from uncommonvintage; 5. White Birch Log Lamp from NHWoodscreations; 6. Reverse Painted Owl On Glass from KimmsAttic; 7. Gluten Free Lemon Sugar Cookies from BakeMyDayGf; 8. Vintage “Firewood” Burlap Bag from retrotreasurehunters; Header: The Log Lady Buttons from jenoaks]

1. “My log does not judge!” Such a great drawing.

2. Shut your eyes and you’ll burst into flames.

3. I love that the Log Lady’s sweaters are totally fashionable right now.

4. Wouldn’t it be funny to see the Log Lady carrying a log thermos? I saw the actress Catherine E. Coulson when I was down in Ashland, Oregon last year (she has worked at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for the past decade). She was carrying a bouquet of flowers in the exact same manner as she’d carried her log. I was a little starstruck!

5. Log Lady lamp. Though I’m not sure if this would piss her off or not. It really could go either way.

6. The owls are not what they seem.

7. She served up sugar cookies and tea before her log spoke to the authorities. These look really yummy.

8. I just thought she might like to cradle her log in this burlap firewood bag. I want it, too.

Thanks so much for reading my post! Please don’t be a stranger. Come say “Hello” to me over on Honey Kennedy!

P.S. Thank you to my dear friend, Anna, who helped me with Photoshop. I’ll stop asking so many questions someday, I swear!

This brings back memories! My friends & I were nutso for this show. I liked Donna & Audrey & whoever Joan Chen played & of course Agent Cooper & the little dancing person (?). Loved that a show series could be so surreal & a tad creepy and yet remain amongst all the other plain ole shows. Also, made me want to trek to the N.W. just to see it. May have to watch the series all over again now. Neat stuff - good to read - thanx. : )

So happy to see Twin Peaks having a revival! I watched it all about 5 years ago and it is still haunting. I notice a lot of trends today are very 'pacific northwest' inspired -- not only is the nature in that ecosystem surreal and out of this world, there is an eerie supernatural component that its hard to describe but easily felt. David Lynch summed it up perfectly and anyone who has been out in the magical 'pacific northwest' knows this feeling!

Did not know that other people even remembered Twin Peaks, let alone "a cult following". Very cool! I am the only person I know who has a cassette tape of the music from the show. I used to put it on when dinner guests would not leave. Once, Oprah (who loved the show, too) played a sort of remix that her engineers had put together. It was a mishmash of all the coffee and pie references in several episodes. Hilarious! Does anyone else remember when the stuffed animal head fell off the wall in the meeting? Also, hilarious. Glad to hear that I can watch episodes again.

LOVE all things David Lynch. Nice to hear how Twin Peaks added an element of daily creepy mystery to a generation of young lives. When I was little it was "Dark Shadows" a sort of vampire soap opera. ("Twilight", are you listening?) Something was always creepy about the sunny technicolor perfect worlds depicted in the 1950's-60's melodramas, and David Lynch, in making "Twin Peaks" (and many of his films) has always been hyper aware of the darkness in the light.

Such great collections! I miss Twin Peaks. When it originally aired I was just a kid but I'd watch it whenever I could sneak around. Then it was one of the first things I ordered from Netflix. I don't know if linking is allowed in the comments but this Etsian ( made an amazing black lodge inspired dress that was posted on Craftster, here:

As an adolescent, I waited with bated breathe for every episode each week during its run...I bought the soundtrack...I purchased Laura Palmer's "diary" when it was published...and just now I read your blog and decided to revisit the series. THANK YOU for reminding me of one of the most underrated shows in television history...and also, where the lovely Dita von Teese got "her style" from (Audrey Horn). Your take was cute, clever, and sweet as *cherry pie!*

The first time I watched the series, I was blown away by the soundtrack that pervaded the show with a subtle creepiness, even in scenes that were not overtly terrifying. Twin Peaks had (and still has) an unsettling magic that stayed with me long after I turned the T.V. off. I enjoyed this homage to the show.

Awesome post! Two friends of mine were in the film Winter's Bone -- I was so excited when they told me their scene was with Sheryl Lee and they got to meet her! I kept referring to her as "Laura Palmer" and they had no idea what I was talking about ;)

a lot people say twin peaks really went downhill after the first season. i say lynch found freedom in knowing they were going to be cancelled, and really took liberties to be as wacky and off-beat as he wanted. he didn't have to please anyone, but he created so many groups, like this, who adored his weirdo world anyway. my love for twin peaks is forever branded on my right calf in the form of log lady's mark she got from wandering into the forest as a girl. nicely done!!

Yay, yay, yay! I was just there yesterday, eating cherry pie in Twede's Diner. No joke. Went there on my scooter, 37 miles just to eat pie in Agent Cooper's honor. Great collections. I think it might take an artist's brain to appreciate the mad genius that is David Lynch. I'm glad to be part of such a quirky community.

When Twin Peaks was on, you couldn't get any of our crowd away from the TV. There were no DVRs - you either watched it or missed it. And we all assumed a persona - I was the Log Lady - I always thought there was much more to her then met the eye. Thank you for the walk down Memory Lane. I think I'll have to buy the DVD set, even though we were all disappointed by David Lynch's ending to the series. We felt he could have wrapped things up better. He did it as though he never expected the series to become a hit, we felt.

I used to love Twin Peaks! We'd watch it on Friday nights and eat hot wings and drink a couple beers. One Friday afternoon I was hit head on by a drunk driver and when my husband came to collect me at the hospital I recall telling him, "All I want to do is go home and watch Twin Peaks and make pretend this never happened." Thanks for this!
