Finding herself in a new town and far from home, Abby Powell-Thompson started a personal blog in the spring of 2005. Never did she imagine that five years later she’d be blogging full time and selling her photography to support herself. Abby chronicles her daily life in film using vintage cameras on her blog, Abby Try Again. Abby’s work has been featured in several books, blogs, and magazines including Romantic Homes, Artful Blogging, and Sommerset Life. More than anything, Abby hopes that through her words and photography she can help others find beauty in their own lives.
Guest Curator: Through the Lens With Abby Try Again
I’ll admit it: I am completely addicted to images. I absolutely love looking at things — it’s my very favorite pastime. I thought today I’d share with you some of my current inspirations and favorites from Etsy photographers.

I am currently obsessed with landscape photography. Forest Print by Debbie Carlos is completely magical as is Cypress Print by Amanda E. Friedman. I also adore the misty foggy landscape by irenesuchocki and think it would look smashing hanging alongside the wintry print from Callex.
One of my absolute favorite things to do is eat a good meal. I also love a good tabletop photograph and Jen of Simply Photo takes the best ones. I’m smitten with her Empty print, and her Waffles photograph makes my mouth water.

Polaroids are another thing that never ceases to inspire me. The happy place print from CoriKindred is one of my very favorites, along with this exquisite portrait from pocketmemories. I’m enamored with the beautiful bowls by fieryeyed and this rad record player print from girlhula.

Being born and raised in California, I can’t help but have a soft spot for water related photos. I’d love to own this stunning photo of a girl looking out at the ocean, created by yerinmok. I could stare at it all day long. Carefree by tamgulich reminds me of happy summer days spent at the seaside with my sisters, as does the sandcastle print from siobhanphotography. The Wave print by feaverish captures the color of the Pacific just beautifully.
I hope these visuals have inspired and uplifted you just as they’ve done for me.
