Leanne Marshall’s Fall 2009 Fashion: Violet Structure handmade and vintage goods

Do you love fashion? So do I, friend!leanne_m.jpg

I’m addicted to Project Runway, Bravo’s smash hit TV show that slates aspiring designers against one another for the ultimate prize, showing at New York Fashion Week and developing their own line.

Etsy’s Leanimal, better known as Leanne Marshall, came away as Project Runway’s winner last season, and she has been voraciously pursuing her design career since.

Here’s Leanne’s seafoam and cream line that won Project Runway last year.

Vanessa and I attended Leanne’s Fall 2009 show during New York Fashion Week, and her line is (as expected!) sculptural, sophisticated and utterly wearable. Held in a small gallery space in Hell’s Kitchen, Leanne’s show was much more accessible and down to earth than similar events being held in Bryant Park. (“At the teeeents,” as Jerrell would say.)

We met Leanne and talked with her about Etsy, new projects and her recent move to Brooklyn. She said that she misses Etsy, but has been too busy working on her line to post new clothing to the site. (She mentioned that she hadn’t slept in weeks leading up to Fashion Week!) It was a pleasure to meet the sweet person behind the phenomenal clothing, and I have to admit that I was a little starstruck — it didn’t hurt that fellow contestants Jerrell, Stella and Suede were there as well!

Earlier in the evening we even got a peek at Christian Siriano’s Fall 2009 collection, thanks to Domestikate and her sweet brother (they work behind-the-scenes for Fashion Week).  It was a very Project Runway evening, and one I won’t soon forget.
