Welcome to #EtsyResolution!

On January 27 we will be kicking off a four-week online bootcamp designed to help you kickstart your creative dreams on Etsy in 2015.

Amazing! So what will I be learning?

The program will cover all the major components you need to master in order to have the best chance of finding success on Etsy, including branding, photography, search engine optimisation and marketing (click here to see the full course outline in the #EtsyResolution announcement post).

How can I access the course material?

Each week you will receive an email with information on how to access the new lessons. We will also make an announcement via the #EtsyResolution Facebook group.

There will be two lessons released each week and they will be available online until the end of March. You can access the lessons in your own time, at your own pace.

Is there anything I should have prepared ahead of time?

The most important thing is to have some finished products ready to stock in your shop. Ideally you should have at least 6 different products on hand, and if you can manage more, that’s even better. As you’ll learn during the program, well-stocked shops tend to perform best.

But I don’t have any/many products yet!

That’s okay. Start with one and build from there. The most important thing is to get started.

If you haven’t quite figured out what to sell, you can still participate in the program. Just keep in mind that #EtsyResolution has been created in order to help new sellers go through the process of opening their Etsy shops in real time while being supported by their peers and mentors. You will get the most out of the program if you’re able to open your shop along with the rest of the community during the four week duration.

Are there any other tips for getting the most out of the program?

Yes! Here are our top tips for giving it all you’ve got to make your #EtsyResolution a reality:

  1. Schedule some time in your calendar each week to dedicate to reading lessons, completing homework tasks and connecting with your peers.
  2. Do your homework tasks. It’s not like school, we promise. Homework tasks are completely optional but they have been designed to help you tackle the major milestones of opening your shop in manageable chunks. We’ll be encouraging you to share your homework in the Facebook group so that, as a community, we can encourage each other, lend advice and ask questions. It’s a pretty great opportunity to ask questions of your mentors as well as Etsy admin!
  3. Join the #EtsyResolution Facebook group – and don’t be shy. Connecting with others who are facing the same hurdles as you can be a game changer. Reach out and say hi to the group, ask a question, lend some advice…or just say something nice! You’ll probably make someone’s day.

I don’t have a Facebook account, can I still participate?

Absolutely. All of the course content will be available via our blog so you won’t miss out on any of the lessons. And you can always ask questions and leave comments directly on the blog.

Somebody told me I can get some free listing credits as part of this program, if I am new to Etsy. What do I have to do?

If you haven’t registered on Etsy previously, we’re giving you a little welcome gift to get you started. Simply visit etsy.com/promotions and enter the code ETSYRESOLUTION. This will apply 20 ‘listing credits’ to your account, meaning you won’t get charged the 20c listing fee for your first 20 products.

What are my next steps?

During the first week of #EtsyResolution, we will be teaching you about Telling Your Brand Story and helping you to craft an amazing About Page. We’ll be working together as a community and sharing our newly crafted About Pages with each other in the Facebook group for feedback and encouragement.

In order to be able to update your About Page, you need to have an open Etsy shop. This means you need to have listed at least one item for sale in your shop. So between now and January 27, aim to list your first product for sale and open your shop. Remember that neither your product listing nor your shopfront need to be perfect at this stage. You can work on tweaking everything over the duration of the #EtsyResolution program. Just take a deep breath, a leap of faith and make your first real move towards your goal. List your first item!

Good luck and have fun!

exciting :) :) I have been on etsy for quite some time now on and off. about mid year 2014 I decided to give it my best shot but have only had 2 sales and one stressful one which ended up a no sale in the end. Needless to say I wanted to shut it down but I also don't like giving up on a challenge so I am really looking forward to learning how to get my shop moving and not be closed to a screeching halt lol. Thanks to the #EtsyResolutionTeam

My shop( Mylie and Toad) has been opened since mid December,2014 and I have been lucky enough to have sold a number of items. I'm learning as I go but still have a LOT to become familiar with. I get easily confused trying to navigate my way through all that is Etsy :( Really looking forward to ideas and guidance from #EtsyResolution :)

Have had an Etsy shop for a while, but it sits unopened, gathering dust and feeling forlorn...looking forward to opening it and giving it life!

Excited to be on board to improve my new shop. Can be a bit daunting when you start off so keen to learn the ropes and hopefully get more sales. Etsy really provide wonderful opportunities like this to help you succeed.

I can't wait to start! What a wonderful opportunity. Having the freedom to do the course at a time that suits us is perfect for small businesses and mums! I'm raring to go and hopeful for my first Etsy sale!

I have been seeing this on Facebook not realizing this is only for Australians? Is there a US version I am not finding?

I signed up a while back, but didn't receive an email when the program started this week...is that because I'm outside of Australia? Registration was open to everyone, right?...
