With February well on it’s way and the working year in full swing, some of us will be happily on track with the goals we set in the New Year. For many others however, returning to our routines has meant that we’ve easily fallen into the trap of our old ways.

Life Coach Tony Robbins says it best “The most important thing you can do to achieve your goals is to make sure that as soon as you set them, you immediately begin to create momentum”.

The longer we wait to take action, the harder it is to get started and build some momentum. Circumstances will never be perfect and waiting until they are is the same as going nowhere.

Some of you might be starting to feel stagnant and discouraged and the best way to fight this feeling is to build momentum.

I’ve put together my top tips to create momentum and then take action.

Get Inspired

Well-known leaders, entrepreneurs and brands can teach us a lot about a variety of areas in life. These range from; success, failure, getting up again and everything in between since they’ve had such successful lives. Since these people have had such successful lives we can all learn some valuable life lessons from the people at the top.

Analyse your role models

The people we are inspired by have both positive and negative traits. It is up to us to categorise these traits and pin-point what we do and don’t like about them. Steve Jobs is the perfect example of a role model with positive and negative traits. He was able to envision that his company’s products would change the way people communicated, work, and live their lives. However, he was also known to be a bully and would often fly off the handle at those under him.

Key questions to ask are:

  • Who inspires me?
  • Why do they inspire me?
  • What key qualities do they have that I could implement into my life?

Use this momentum to take action

Now that you’re feeling inspired and have found a common ground with the traits of the people you admire, it’s time to take action. How are you going to apply these traits each and everyday for yourself, your business, career or other areas you’re working on in your life. What are you going to do now that you are feeling motivated and have built up some momentum?

You are right. Seize the moment! That's why New Year's Resolutions don't usually work for me. Problem is one has a great idea and then often gets interupted by other things. Wonderful ideas seem to fade if not immediately pursued. Another great blog Adam!
