We took 5 with Vic to find out what a typical day looks like.
6:00 AM My alarm goes off and I get up for an early morning run.
7:30 AM I’m home and making brekkie for my son and saying goodbye to my husband as he heads out the door for work.
8:45 AM We are dressed and ready and I walk my son to kinder for the day.
9:00 AM I’m onto my 2nd cup of coffee and checking out my email inbox, Instagram, and daily schedule.
By 9:30 AM I’m outside setting up a vat and preparing to dye for the day.
12:00 PM Lunch break! I’ll have a bite then take a break for a while, check Instagram, and take the dog to the park for a run.
1:00 PM I’m back into the afternoon dye session. I’m usually doing the final few vat dips on a few pieces by now and try to wind up active dyeing by 2 – 3pm.
3:00 PM I’ve started to wash out the days work. I’ll wash everything I can by 3.30, then have a quick admin break with a cocoa, check emails and Instagram before heading off to kinder to pick up my son and find out what he did for the day.
4:30 PM Child, puppy and cats are all into crazy hour and want food and attention! I dash about trying to appease everyone and make dinner at the same time. This carry-on lasts until 7pm!
7:30 PM I’m tucked up on the couch, with either a wine or a cocoa and my knitting and hopefully the latest episode of GoT is on tv. Sometimes I multi task and respond to emails and pack orders, too.
9:30 – 10:00 PM I’m snoozing. Hey! I get up early, Ok?
On a typical weekend I sleep in until 7AM(!!!) and then very lazily take about 40 mins to drink a coffee, stare at the computer and check Instagram before heading out for a run. I do a longer 10k+ run on weekends depending on how much I’ve done all week. From here on in, the weekend is all about relaxation. It’s hard to maintain a good work / life balance when you work for yourself, so I’ve gotten very strict with myself here! I’ll spend my weekend doing a few chores (not too many!) and hanging out with my son, his Dad and our new dog. We’re always scouting for new great dog friendly places and have made getting out of the house and going on day trips into country Victoria a priority.
Secret Tips to Etsy Success:
- Know what you want to achieve and make a plan for it.
- Try to keep to a schedule or routine, and step away from your electronics when you’re creating!
- Try to group your “like” tasks together, so you’re focused on what you’re doing, and if need be, divide your time into blocks, days or weeks.
- Take a break when you need to, and share your love of your craft with your fans.
